Deep in the shadows,
It lingers among us,
With a blade that glistens in the moonlight
And a heart no different from a snake's.
Stalking you solemnly,
Dodging your field of view with
Chipped lamp posts and mailboxes
Filled with your very thought.
The stone brick sidewalk appears to
Pop under your feet, pebbles exploding
Under your weight, feeling heavier than
Usual, and masking your assailant's approach.
And finally you come to a dead end,
Startled suddenly as a misty figure becomes
Visible before your eyes, and whispers so raspy:
"Wrong path you seemed to have taken, my dear,"
And with that, the figure stabs you silently,
And you do not scream, you do not worry,
For you have seen this coming all the long way,
Perhaps you deserved this after all you have done and caused.
Idk, that's just what it made me think of. The gate to destuction is wide, but the path that leads to salvation is narrow...

I was a shadow, hidden from light,
I crept along through the night.
Money moved me, but never moved my heart.
A simple job that must be finished after it starts.
My cold knife gleamed, a shard of ice
and I had this cold gut feeling, curling like a vice
I watched you make a false turn
and I put aside the stomach aches and churns.
I felt menacing strong,
and yet it all felt wrong
as I said my line and stabbed my prey
Something died in me that day.
And yet I walked away and got a call
Next target awaits, I meet them at the mall...
I was a shadow, with an extinguished light
